Seasoned Prairie Chicken

This recipe can best be described as an easy simple seasoning chicken.  We call it the Seasoned Prairie Chicken.

Start with your seasoning.  Mix your seasoning items together in advance and put off to the side. Feel free to adjust the seasoning list to your liking or use the list we have prepared.

Start by pre-heating your oven.  Use 10 or so coals underneath the oven.  Add in enough Vegetable oil to cover the bottom of your dutch oven with about a 1/4 inch layer.  The amount of oil used will vary depending on the size of your oven.

Take your strips of chicken and cut them up into nugget or strip style sized pieces.  If you use the frozen tender size chicken for value clubs you can use that size or cut them up smaller (as per your liking).

Add your chicken into the dutch oven once the oil is hot (starting to boil).  Start browning the chicken turning the pieces over so both sides get cooked.

Once the chicken is browned to your liking, remove the remaining oil from the oven and discard.  Apply your desired seasoning mix.

Put the lid on your dutch oven and add 15 or so coals on top of the oven.  Cook for about 30-45 mins depending on the thickness of the chicken.   Check a larger piece to make sure it is properly cooked all the way through.
